OTHER 4FIVE+ GRAVEL HAPPENINGS

4Five+ Athlete Collective have designed this event with female riders in mind. We want to send a clear message that there is space for female riders on the start line.

Our dream is to see women and girls make up half the field, because we are #halftheworld.

With the field capped at 150 each day, competition for a spot will be hot!

The Cycling

Racing

  • Saturday: Gravel Road Race, three distances to choose from

    • Tiny Tiger 32km

    • Little Tiger 50km

    • Big Tiger 100km

  • Sunday: Gravel Individual Time Trial 18km

  • Uber Tiger - Saturday + Sunday - fastest combined average speed

Participation

This year each Tiger Gravel Road Race distance can be entered as a Non-Race Challenge, allowing riders to enjoy the various Tiger courses with full event support and a wider range of AusCycling License options. Time cut-offs still apply. The Non-Race Challenge is also suitable for e-bikes and adaptive athletes.

On Sunday there is a special Come & Try Gravel package deal suited to riders new to gravel, and those who would rather ride than race. An accredited AusCycling instructor will take you through a skills session, which will be followed by a supported social ride that follows the 18km time trial course, finishing with a light lunch at the fire shed.

The Course

The course terrain is rolling, rather than hilly, and is generally on the lower end of the technical spectrum. The routes follow Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attraction roads and tracks, passing through the Wiltshire-Butler National Park and McCorkhill State Forest. The routes are lined by native jarrah, marri and banksia woodland, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for emus and kangaroos! Depending on the weather and when the roads last saw the Shire grader, they could be smooth, corrugated, sandy, or muddy - but they will definitely be 100% gravel.

GPX & Notes for 2024 course will be available here.

The Community

The Event Hub is at the Darradup Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade Shed in Jalbarragup, 20km from Nannup. This is a small remote rural community: the facilities will be basic, but the welcome will be warm. There will be water, ice and food available. The Fire Brigade will be directing the parking and running a gourmet sausage sizzle and selling drinks, so be sure to bring your cash to support these community fundraising efforts.

On Sunday we encourage riders to stay and socialize and watch the presentations . We will be providing a light lunch as part of your Sunday entry.

Be aware!

  • There is only Telstra network coverage in the area

  • Bring cash for parking, sausage sizzle, coffee etc

Suggested travel routes and parking directions are included in the Rider Guide.

Long Table Dinner

4Five+ are very excited to again have the support of Nannup Brewing Co for the Tiger Tracks Gravel weekend.

They will be hosting the Tiger Tracks Long Table Dinner on Saturday 6th April, featuring an Italian menu. Be sure to book in advance for this great social evening as it sold out in 2023!

The Technical Stuff

There will be more information coming in the Rider Guide, but here are some headlines to get you started.

License Requirements for Insurance Coverage

An AusCycling Membership/License is required to ride at Tiger Tracks Gravel. There are a number of options available, depending on which events you choose to ride.

You can find information about AusCycling Memberships/Licenses and benefits here:

Bikes

There is no restriction on the type of bike that can be used. Bikes must have two working brakes. TT bars not permitted. Riders are expected to complete the race with the same frame, forks and wheels as at the start. Given the course terrain, we strongly recommend a minimum tyre width of 33mm, with sufficient grip to handle loose gravel.

Riders on e-Bikes and e-handcycles can participate in the Non-Race Challenge (there’s a Special Offer check box on the entry form).
